There are Individual & Pairs competitions where golfers compete against opponents in knockout rounds, including the popular home & away first round, with the aim of reaching the 3-day, 54-hole Grand Final at the iconic Turnberry.
The championship is open to male golfers with a competition CONGU handicap - the maximum playing handicap limit is 12.

12 finalists will follow in the footsteps of legends. The lucky dozen will not only enjoy 54 holes of links golf but will also be accommodated on-site in one of the luxury Lodges at Turnberry.
It will be played over three days between Friday 14th to Sunday 16th October 2016 with a £1,000 prize table on offer. Each player/pair will compete against each other in a 'round robin' matchplay format with the winners being crowned the 2016 champions.
24 players will compete here on Wednesday 5th October 2016 for a place in the Grand Final at Turnberry.
Tee times will be between 11.00am and 11.52am with the singles teeing off first and the pairs afterwards. A draw for opponents will be made beforehand and players will be notified of their allocated tee-time by email.
Matches are played over 18 holes and there are no green-fees to pay on the day. The winners of each match will progress to the Grand Final at Turnberry.
48 players will compete here on Thursday 22nd September 2016 for a place in the Semi Finals at Ganton.
Tee times will be between 11.10am and 1.40pm with the singles teeing off first and the pairs afterwards. A draw for opponents will be made beforehand and players will be notified of their allocated tee-time by email.
Matches are played over 18 holes and there are no green-fees to pay on the day. The winners of each Quarter Final will progress to the Semi Finals at Ganton.
This has proved extremely popular in previous years because everyone is guaranteed at least one round away from their own course.
A draw takes place for home advantage in subsequent rounds with approximately four weeks provided for each tie to be completed.
You must win a maximum of just five matches, including the 'home & away' first round, to reach the Quarter Finals at Woodhall Spa.

In summary you must be a male golfer aged 16+ on or before 31st March 2016 and have a competition CONGU handicap (maximum playing limit 12) held at a golf club affiliated to a club in the North of England or Midland Golf Union.
